Dear civilian,
Who of you has seen war? Has harnessed destruction? Has lent light to the darkness?
Since March 20th 2003 more than a million military personnel, private contractors, and government forces from around the world have camped up and played godsend to a very small portion of the worlds population(in Iraq); and for what reason? For what end?, surely not to pack up and leave in the height of the night to Kuwait in the flashes of a photo op for news agencies who’s publishers surly have pain describing what is truly taking place!!!
We are soldiers. Our opinion is encouraged to be suppressed; our constant pains, visions, nightmares, horror acts, and depression likewise. We are trapped in this dungeon (which becomes our world) until a key is unveiled: our shrink of all trades. It seems to many that after the overwhelming numbers of Conrad’s who suffer, suffered, and died from PTS, suicide, “friendly fire”, and the worst “the unknown” our shrinks cant be sufficient or just “simply enough”.
Many warriors suffer from this purpose issue. One group is totally content with his or her sacrifice for the purpose of “protecting the posterity of our nation”. Another group feels there is enough within their being to get through this horrendous time for the purpose of insuring their individual or family a better education, home, and overall well being. And the last notable sub-group are those who totally understand the cruelties of their orders and the evils within their fingertips. This last group either feels completely numb from all actions, Torne between the good and evil of conscience, or joined up just to see as much blood as possible.
So as we enter the country of Afghanistan with no “acknowledged opinion” I ask yet again, for what reason? For what end result are we suiting up? How do I wake up tomorrow and feel content with whatever is done? Is the mission in vain? Should I finish now? What should I do?
Until next time,
From the post
Home for the next decade? sorry you cant visit.
